About Jason Smithers, LPC

I’m a strengths-based therapist who works with adults 18 and up, helping people navigate depression, anxiety, and major life transitions. Whether that’s a career shift, divorce, or the loss of someone close. My goal is to create a space where you can slow down, make sense of what’s happening beneath the surface, and begin moving toward the version of yourself you want to build next.

Along with my clinical work, I’m a three-time author and lifelong creative. Because of that, I have a deep appreciation for the inner world of artists, musicians, writers, and anyone who spends their days imagining, making, or exploring. I especially enjoy supporting creative professionals who want to live healthier, more fulfilling lives while still doing work that matters to them.

Before becoming a therapist, I spent nearly a decade in director-level roles at a North American marketing agency, serving as the Director of People & Culture. In that position, I oversaw conflict resolution, hiring, staff development, and the overall health of the organization’s interpersonal environment. That experience gave me a front-row seat to the pressures people face at work—and the ways unresolved stress, burnout, and relational patterns can follow us home.

At my core, I have a passion for helping people discover their “next mountain to climb.” Whether you’re rebuilding after a setback or stepping into a new chapter, I’m here to help you find clarity, resilience, and a path that feels both grounded and hopeful.

How I Work

My approach is collaborative and practical. I use Solution-Focused Brief Therapy to help you identify what’s working and build on it. From there, we create simple, realistic steps that move you toward where you want to be. I also integrate creative and values-based approaches to help you reconnect with what matters most and find direction when life feels uncertain.

UNFINISHED

As children, our passions came easy. We would doodle for hours and hours and we didn't know what the word 'editing' meant. As we got older, our passions were pushed aside for the busyness of life, for the fear of failure, for poor excuses. Unfinished, is a book for hopeful creative's to reclaim their passions; to Dream, Complete and Repeat Their Life's Work even when life gets busy and the excuses to NOT complete projects are endless.
